Being out and about with 2m is one thing...An ht, rubber duck antenna or a roll-up jpole and you are in bizniz, But.... being in the field with hf is a whole new can'o'worms. The antennas even for the higher bands can be large. here is just a few of the options I've come up with in the last couple of years.

I do a lot of portable HF work and belive in being ready in case the"Big One" hits. This tripod was built around the MFJ 33ft. telescoping mast. (mast is black) in keeping with the theme the legs telescope up and are clamped with hose clamps, and are made of PVC pipe. Works great with an 88 ft. inv. vee dipole for a totally self contained antenna and needs no supports.

This is another of my portable antennas. It is built on a camera tripod, a mobile mount and hamsticks. I stole, er , borrowed the design from a guy at the Shelby, NC hamfest. Instead of using radials I played around a capacitance ground like the Alpha Delta stuff. Looks odd, works great!
