Jesus demonstrated the priest's power to forgive.

{Luke 5:20} And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

Several men brought a paralytic to Jesus.
He recognized their faith.
He did not ask the man if he would like to be forgiven of his sins.He told him,
"Thy sins are forgiven."
This riled the pharisees and they accused Him of blasphemy.
In the following verses, Jesus again taught the power of a priest to forgive sins.


John 20:19 ¶ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the
    doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews,
    came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them,
Peace be unto you.
 20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side.
Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
 21 Then said Jesus to them again,
Peace be unto you:
as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them,
    Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
  John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them;
 and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

The word remit means to forgive.
When the priest intercedes using the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus,
God is able to do great exploits through him.
One man can move a nation or the entire world.
As you are led by the Spirit to witness to a sinner, Jesus can and will work directly through you.
I have done this many times and been able to bypass the usual questions such as,
"Would you like to be saved?"

Let me give you an example.
 A Jewish lady was brought to me by two Christian ladies.
"Tell her about Jesus' power to heal. Her family is really in need of the healing power of Jesus."
"Are you a born again Christian?" I asked her.
"Leave her alone. She is an orthodox Jew. Tell her about Jesus' power to heal,"
was the response of the girls who had brought her to me.
I ignored these well meaning sisters.
I took the Jewish girl by the hand and said,
"Pray this prayer."
I had her repeat the sinner's prayer. Her response was. "Wow!"
Then I said,
"Now you are going to receive the Holy Ghost
and speak in tongues,
your heavenly prayer language."
Her response was, "Now." I said, "Yes, now."
She began to speak in tongues immediately.
When she came down from the shouting and dancing and praising God,
her remarks were, "Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus!"

I repeat; a priest does not really forgive sins. Only God can do that.

Isaiah 54 17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from me, saith the LORD. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

The priest, flowing in the Holy Ghost,
is acting on God's promptings.

No one can be saved without personally responding to Jesus.
God never saves anyone who does not personally desire to be saved.
If that had been possible,
Jesus could have pronounced forgiveness for all humanity when He was here on earth.

To function as a priest you must realize how Jesus operated.
He knew what was in man. He was able to deal wisely because of this.
He did not ask His disciples if they would like follow Him. He commanded them to follow Him.

They were always ready to do so because He knew how that person would respond.
He did not choose those who were not interested. He knew man.

As your priestly ministry opens more and more,
you will enter into this same level of spiritual understanding.
As a priest you should be able to obey the Holy Spirit as Jesus obeyed Him.
He was always on target.
Peter was able to command the lame man in Acts three to get up and walk.
He did not ask God or the man if he wanted to be healed. He command him to get up.
How did he do this? As God's priest, he was obeying Jesus.

This is also the way he was able to command the lame man in
Acts 9 to get up and make up his bed and be on his way.
Peter did not ask God or the man. Peter knew what the high priest was saying concerning this man.

{Acts 9:34} And Peter said unto him, AENEAS,
Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
As you obey Him, you will turn your world around, in a dramatic fashion.
You will be the most amazed when you see Him using you.
We are channels through which Jesus will work.
He may have us all working on the same project,
without the other being aware of it.
