The Eldership Training Series is a free service - via e-mail - for all who would seek to serve in a leadership role within the Assembly. The Elder Manual is additional material describing worship meeting formats, weddings, baptisms, etc.
You may apply for the Eldership Training Series by contacting us by e-mail.
The purpose of the Eldership Training Series is to prepare believers to
fill the role of elder within the Assembly of believers. Being an elder among
God’s people is a great honor and privilege. This series is designed to
instruct and encourage individuals in developing the skills and understanding
necessary for fulfilling this role.
Its Design
The course of the Eldership Training Series (ETS) is a graduated study.
It begins at the most elementary level so that no one, who feels led to serve
as an elder within the Assembly, will be denied the opportunity to prepare. Any
individual that successfully completes this series should be well qualified to
be ordained as an elder of the Assembly.
There are four levels within the ETS. Level I introduced the key
elements necessary in an elder's training. Level II continues by looking at
some key doctrinal issues. By the time one has successfully completed Level IV,
he or she will have all the skills and understanding necessary to minister as
an elder within the context of the Assembly of believers. The qualified elder
will receive a certificate of completion and will be ordained as an elder of
the Assembly of believers.
There are four sections within each level of the ETS. These sections
cover the four essential areas of study: the Bible, the Doctrine
of Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of Christ, and the Ministry
of the Christian Servant. These four sections work together in one’s
development as a Christian servant. No one area is more important than another.
They are interconnected in the Christian experience.
Its Requirements
There are two requirements for taking the ETS. The first requirement is
a testimony
of faith in Jesus Christ. The prospective elder must be a baptized
adult believer. The second requirement is a commitment to serve others
within the Assembly of the faithful and among the lost. The ETS has as its goal
the development of skills for the role of elder within the context of the
Assembly of believers. The prospective elder must be committed to that goal.
The ETS should be taken under the guidance of an elder of the Assembly
that is familiar with its design and purpose. There are no time restrictions
involved in the course. Although the time it takes to complete the course may
indicate one’s level of commitment. The development of eldership
skills is important for any leader within the Assembly. The prospective elder
should approach the ETS with the seriousness invested in its purpose.
The Elder Manual is prepared to assist the elder in the performance of his tasks. It includes:
